Our goal at Leijona Catering is to be the most environmentally sustainable food service company in Finland. This means that we have to further develop our menus, sourcing, competencies, and sustainability on an on-going basis. We embrace the environmental perspective in everything we do to reduce consumption of natural resources. To be able to do this we must identify and reduce both the material environmental impacts from our own operations and those that take place in the supply chain.
Leijona Catering complies with environmental law, follows up how it is being developed, and strives to operate is such a manner that we fulfill the expectations of our customers, other stakeholders, and the society.
Our environmental program includes but is not limited to:
• Emphasis on reducing climate emissions and protecting biodiversity in meal planning and operational development
• Energy and water efficiency in kitchens
• Using renewable energy
• Reducing packaging materials, using environmentally friendly packaging materials, and ensuring packaging material sorting and proper recycling
• Using sustainable certified products in product assortment
• Taking care of food safety and nutritional value
• Continuously developing the environmental competencies of personnel
• Communicating our environmental actions and goals to our stakeholders and engaging them in close collaboration.
We are committed to the environmental sustainability goals of the UN Agenda 2030. We strive to reach our goals by open-minded exploration of new ways to do familiar tasks in collaboration with partners and customers.
An independent third party audits our operations against the ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards on an annual basis.
